When can I start using eSIM?
eSIM can actually perform data communication after you arrive at your destination's communication area and connect to the local network. You cannot use communication while outside the target area (such as in your departure country).
1. About the Start Timing of the Validity Period
There are mainly two patterns for eSIM.
The eSIM provided by this service only starts when you connect to the network at your destination.
-
Type that starts when connecting to the network at the destination
-
Many eSIMs are of this type.
-
Even if you install it before departure, the day count will not start until you arrive at the destination and the line is connected.
-
You can safely complete the setup in advance.
-
-
Type that starts when installed
-
Some eSIMs start counting the validity period immediately after installation on the device, regardless of location.
-
For this type, we recommend installing just before departure or after arriving at the destination.
-
2. When should I install eSIM?
We recommend installing it as early as possible when you have a stable Wi-Fi environment. However, for the "type that starts when installed" mentioned above, please install according to your travel schedule.
Note: Even if you install or configure it outside the communication area (e.g., at home before departure), it will be "out of service" until you arrive in the target country, and you cannot connect to the internet. After arriving at the destination, you can enable communication by turning on the eSIM line.
3. About Validity Period and Data Amount
-
Validity Period: The number of days specified in the package (e.g., 7 days).
-
Data Amount: The total data amount that can be used during the entire period. This is not a daily limit (e.g., for a 1GB plan, you can use up to 1GB total during the period).
